RIDING LESSONS at North Star - Adult & Child Focused

Also see our Riding Activities page for more options.

Whether you are a beginner or advanced, we have lessons that are geared towards everyone. Besides having fun, we strive to attain competence in all three gaits as well as the transitions between them. We teach riders about horse etiquette. This applies to working with horses on the ground and when riding. It is important as a rider to respect the horse, make them respect you and your space, as well as respecting other riders in the arena or on the trail. We put heavy emphasis on the basics of horse care and beginner skills. With this as a solid base, it is much easier for riders to advance when they are able to master the simple things first, such as grooming, saddling, controlling your horse on the ground and much more. Our goal is to make everyone able to confidently care for and ride our horses in a fun and safe environment.

A Note from Marie...My name is Marie DuCharme and I have been with Amy Remick and Northstar Stables for almost a year now. I am a 25-year old native Wisconsinite and have had my heart stolen by the wonder that is Minnesota. The people at Northstar are wonderful and so are the horses! I love sharing my passion for horses with people. I have loved horses ever since I was a kid and the obsession just stuck with me. My goal as a Beginning Riding Instructor is to work with each person’s ability level on a case-by-case basis, since no two riders are alike. I address their strengths and weaknesses to make them a stronger, confident, and versatile rider. I love to have fun and laugh. I get laughed at more than I would like to admit, but I want to make sure that my students leave each lesson with a smile on their face. If I can show riders new and improved ways to enjoy horses, my mission is accomplished.  Feel free to contact me and I will be happy to talk through a program for you or your child.
