Why lease a horse instead of buying? There are several reasons. The first being expense and required knowledge needed to own a horse. There are many costs associated in horse ownership, from worming, to vet, to Farrier, and tack. Leasing a horse eliminates these expenses and is a great way to gain the knowledge you need to own your own horse some day. We here at North Star teach our leasers how to care for as well as enjoy a horse. We strive to teach with a positive, not pushy, knowledgeable staff. Hands on is the way to learn with horses and that is what we offer. Another reason you should lease is to learn what you like in a horse. Many times people purchase their first horse, and shortly come to realize that it is "to much horse" for them. Worse yet, because of lack of knowledge they find their horse has medical issues. Leasing also helps you discover what type of riding style you prefer. What if you buy a horse to ride Western then change your mind and want to ride Hunt seat? We give you a chance to try both. We have several breeds for lease, giving you the opportunity and exposure to see what fits you best. We work very hard to ensure that everyone has a positive leasing experience here at North Star. Pete is a lot of fun to handle, ride, and just be around! He is also very versatile. He can be ridden English, Western, and on the trail very successfully. Personally, he is my favorite to ride. He has a beautifully set head and exhibits beautiful motion. Pete has a bit of a "joker" personality. He would be best suited with an intermediate to advanced rider. |

Mystic Bay "Tinker" Born 1991, Bay Arabian Mare 14.2 HH Tinker is very well broke and has had extensive training. She has been shown in Western pleasure and games and also has had the start of 1st level dressage training. She rides English, Western or bareback and does well with all. She does great in the arena and out on trail. She will ride out alone but she prefers to be with her buddies. She is the perfect horse to learn on as she is so well broke but she will still test you to be sure you are paying attention and show her your in control. She is great for beginners thru advanced riders as she has such a wide range in training. |

Padrons Psyche, Kaiyoum, Khemosabi, Port Bask, Ali Jamaal, to name a few but the bonus is she has correct conformation, with a nice big trot, and a pleasing attitude, but sensible. She is started under saddle in Hunt Seat. |

Bailey Bailey is an all-around nice horse. She is very respectful, level-headed, and willing to please. She is a solid trail horse, and performs well under both English and Western riding styles. Bailey used to be a trail horse out in Colorado. She has done games, been leased out to a summer horse camp, and is used for lessons. As you can see, she does anything we ask of her. She is a great confidence builder due to her speed capability and her intelligence, which she likes to test riders with! We will be using her for team sorting this spring. |
|
Jazz is broke to ride, very sweet and super willing to please. She has matured very much this year and we will be focusing on her Hunter training as she is now ready to work and be a very good child mount. Jazz is the most gentle PONY I have ever met in my life. |
|
Cece
Born 1993, Suffolk/Pony cross Mare 14'3" HHCece was rescued in spring of 2008. She has turned out to be a wonderful and willing horse. With a little practice, she would be a wonderful dressage prospect. She is also very dependable out on the trail. Her nickname is Hippo since she moves through water just like one! She stands 14'3 but is fairly wide. Cece is great for a bold beginner up to an advanced rider. Cece is a rare find and is husband and kid safe! |

Bandits
Royal Star " Mandy"Born 1996, American Paint Breeding Stock Mare 15' HH (Ginger Bandit Star X Miss Royal Revenue) Mandy is on of the easy going horses I have in my herd. She is top of the herd and is super easy on the ground. She is blind in her left eye, so she needs a very experienced rider to guide her. |

Gem is one of our favorite mares and is truly sweet. She has a trot you can sit all day long! She does have a past injury which prevents her from doing any serious competing and endurance riding. However, she is fine to ride in the ring, trail, or in small shows. She would be best suited with an intermediate and above rider. She is a very good girl! |

Easly A Beauty - Painted Easy X
Midnite BeautyBorn 2003, 15'2 HH Black And White Pinto Mare Half Arabian Half Paint She has presence but this comes with a dramatic entrance. This mare likes to make herself known, but when you get down to it, she is a beauty. She takes a bit longer than the others to commit to her work. When she does meet you half way, her movement becomes extended and she shows a great consistency in her gaits. She has size and power. Once she bends more and become sound under saddle, she will be a great horse to ride. She loves your company and is a fast learner. |

Harmony This mare is cute as a button! She also has a mind of her own. Once you make sure she knows who’s boss, she aims to please. She has been under saddle and is a bit hot in between gaits. She would be best suited with an experienced rider. Within each gait, she stays strong and, with the right cues and correction, shows desirable consistency. She doesn’t spook easy, but can be a bit flighty. (I have a feeling with her that is you took a piece of tinsel and shook it in front of her face, she would easily walk you and herself right into a brick wall). But I digress. Ever since starting with her, she has picked things up quickly and stays focused during her workouts. |

Delilah - DE Caj Har X Bint NizettaBorn 1995, Bay Arabian Mare 14'2 HH The best way to describe the movement of this mare is that she floats. Her transitions are so smooth and she displays a great amount of flash and presence without the intimidation factor. She has a nice back, very sound, holds her head like a lady as a result of her correct conformation. At times she can be a pistol, but recovers from it undetected. She is one of the easiest and most flexible horses that I have worked and I am very excited to see how much more she can accomplish. |

This mare is really sweet. She will do anything she is told. Sonny is an exceptional lesson horse, very willing to please, and very patient. I have taught 5 year olds on her, but yet she is a little challenging for adults. Sonny is willing to go down the road through a creek, go to a horse show what ever you want to do she is willing to try. |

KaLiah

Mizan
Taj Beziquea "Pearl" Mizan Taj Halim X Bez QTBorn 2002, Bay Arabian Mare 14'3 HH Pearl is a Mizan Taj Halim
daughter, 1983 World Champion. She is a rare find, of a kind that
people usually don't let go of when they have one. Being a true
Arabian with a ton of style and potential, she is a fun to ride,
very smart, sensitive and personable. She is dependable on trails,
has speed when you ask her, enjoys playing games and as usual with a
Taj baby would excel at Dressage or Hunt Seat. Pearl needs a
confident rider with a soft attitude as she is gentle and sensitive
to the riders feel. She is a perfect horse to bond with, will pick
up on your feel once you gain her trust, and will do great at any
job you may give her. |
|
PeanutBorn 1993, Welsh Pony Mare 12'2 HH Fun to ride, adorable, and is willing to work with you and learn new things. When you first meet her she can be a little lazy, it seems like she is just trying to get out of exercising and if you let her know you mean business, she is a sweetheart. Once she has a good work pattern down, she has excellent work ethic. Good lead line and walk trot prospect. |

Diamond will make a wonderful partner for the right person. If you can ride with a focus and keep her interest, be soft and respectful of a horse you're reading about an amazing opportunity for a partnership with Diamond. She's everything you could ask for in a horse, smart, willing, curious, spirited, and beautiful. She's a tremendous athlete, not for the faint of heart. With her big trot and flagged tail she would excel in dressage, she's been ridden on many trail rides, and done some western gaming too. |

This mare really owns up to her name! Despite being a bit lazy, she is very lovable. With more consistent riding, she will develop better athleticism and become more willing. Sweetie is pleasure bred and moves like a Western Pleasure horse. She could be a very nice hunt seat horse, and offers a lot of of stability on the trail as well. |

For a young horse, she is extremely level headed and has good conformation. She rides Western and English and is very versatile.
